This University Misspelled Its Own Name And It’s A Beautiful Metaphor For The State Of America’s Education System

I don’t generally tell people I’m from Kansas, usually because it’s met with a laugh or a “where?” Honestly, the state is kind of a joke to the rest of the United States and as a lifelong resident, I’m very aware of that fact. I’m also very aware of the fact that that’s probably for a reason.

Wichita State University (which, in case you don’t know, is in Kansas) decided to brand its water tower in the name of school spirit and, well, it didn’t turn out so well.

Seriously, Kansas? You can’t even spell “State” or “University” right on the UNIVERSITY WATER TOWER. I’m not sure if I’m more embarrassed for my state or for the state of education in general.

At least Wichita is being a good sport about it?

Unfortunately, I’m still cringing as much as I’m laughing. Maybe there’s something strangely poetic about the irony here, but mostly it just makes me want to slam my head into a door. I need to leave the state. Or better yet, the country.
