He cheated on her with her best friend. He turned out to be a typical, egotistical, alpha douchebag. Ha. While a part of me was giddy with joy, the pain in her voice was like ice in my lungs. Even though it’d been so long since we talked, I couldn’t stand to see her hurting. I still considered her comfort and happiness above mine and started talking to her again. I wanted her to realize that I was going to be that one guy who’d always be there for her even when the rest of the world walked out. That’s how much I care about her.
She wanted me back. I was hesitant as first, but I also longed to have her back in my life, so I awarded her the benefit of the doubt. It was a big mistake.
