If You Don’t Value Me, You Don’t Deserve Me

We are all a work in progress. Anyone that tells you differently or thinks differently, they are wrong. No one is a finished project. That’s not the way that life works.

But here’s one very important thing to remember, no matter where you are standing, no matter what direction you are taking in your life.

If someone doesn’t make the effort to value and understand you, they do not deserve you.

Of course, everyone’s story is different. But the thing is, it’s important to know how and why you got to where you are standing. Like most people, it probably wasn’t easy. You probably had to fight for every inch that you got and everything that you have now did not fall into your lap.

But that is what makes you amazing. That’s the thing that makes you beautiful and dazzle and shine and sparkle.

And sure. There are going to be people who walk in and out of your life. You are going to give pieces of yourself away to those who were not blessing, but lessons. It hurts, but it’s not the end of the world and it is not the end of you.

Not even close.

You cannot allow yourself to hold onto that, to make that the definition of your worth. You are so much more than what people give to you.

You have to start thinking about the big picture because trust me, your story is not over yet.

And yes. It’s going to hurt like hell. But change hurts. Growth hurts. And learning to be good and kind to yourself, yeah that hurts too.

But you know what hurts more? Thinking about all the ways that you could better because someone told you that you aren’t enough. Because someone made you feel, for one tiny second, that you were unworthy of their time or attention.

Those people, they don’t see you for what you are, for what and who you are becoming. And what’s more is that I guarantee that people like that are going to regret losing you.

It won’t happen overnight. Nothing ever does. And it’s not going to feel like you won, but that’s because we never fully gauge how strong we are until we have finished the battle.

I guess whatever way you look at it and however you find it out, it all comes down to one simple thing.

You have to have faith in yourself. You have to be your biggest fan. You have to learn how to cheer for yourself, how to pick yourself up. How to learn to fail and fall and take pride in all that chaos because in the end, you come out stronger. Not the other guy.

That’s the only way that you know that you’re going to make it. Is having enough courage in your heart to let go of people who think of you as an option. Who thinks of you as a filler, a replacement, a way to kill the time.

And people will drain you. People will pull you down. People will play on your heartstrings and make you feel so small that you don’t know which way is up.

Believe me when I tell you that the only thing that you are losing is dead weight.

So, the next time that you think you did something wrong, that you let someone down, that you just weren’t enough for someone, just think about all that you are. Think about how full and good your heart is.

Think about all the amazing things you have done and think about all the things that you still plan to do.

And just let them go.

Because if they walked away, then they are the ones that lost. Not you.
