All those picture you see of places you’ll likely never go, they show kids, smiling, barefoot and covered only in torn clothing. Your heart warms up as you exclaim, “Look how little they need to be happy!”
I don’t believe what I’ve been taught, but I won’t be angry with you if you do because I know that differences can be okay, and that in the end, we don’t only have ourselves to rely on.
I lost a friend today. Those five words in particular aren’t poignant by any means, I’ve lost count of those I’ve lost over the years, but this isn’t my first rodeo. I did not write this for me though. This has nothing to do with me or how I feel, because one less boy walks this earth today, and it was his choice.
Love can be honest, and it can be brave, but if you don’t love yourself, and you don’t acknowledge the significance of pursuing a dream, hope, or desire, there’s no nightlight that could ever brighten your path down the tunnel of understood reality.
Money should not be powerful enough to elicit fear, nor should it be capable of guiding your life path entirely. I’m saying the satisfaction of pursuing something you love will offer you a kind of happiness money can’t buy.
In essence, we aim to shove an outpour of seemingly inexplicable emotions into a few, carefully arranged words, much like over-packing for a weekend vacation. We aim to express ourselves without compromising the complexity of the human spirit or the gravity of a situation.
To every individual in need of help that I have come across, thank you for not allowing pride to win. Thank you for letting me help, because I want to, not because I need to.
