25 Small But Life-Changing Lessons I’ve Learned In 25 Years

6) Someone has got to do it, so it might as well be you.

My parents once told me “someone has got to do it, so it might as well be you.” The context of this quote was used to answer a question I had for them about my passion of playing guitar for a living. I would often tell myself that people who have seemingly glorious careers such as musicians, actors, and athletes are different from the rest of society. They must possess something that I or the rest of society doesn’t have, or else why wouldn’t everyone do what they do?

I could never play guitar for a living because I would never be good enough. However, that quote from my parents changed the way I have looked at life ever since. I may not be a professional guitar player yet, but I have been in multiple bands that have allowed me to perform in different cities and above all, follow my passion. I keep the line “someone has got to do it, so it might as well be you” with me whenever I feel as if I am not good enough to do something, because in the end, someone will do it and we are all capable of reaching our goals with a determined state of mind.

7) Always remember that your life can change in one day.

We change every day, that’s obvious. In fact, you could argue that change is the only guaranteed constant in life. However, some days end up being more life changing than others. These days can be good or bad, previously planned or occurring at random, or resulting in you getting “ahead” or falling “behind” in regards to what your life dreams and goals are.

You never know when those days will occur when someone or something will enter your life and change it forever.
