12 People On The One Thing They Admire About A Person They Dislike

People on Reddit were asked what was that one thing they admired about somebody they actually disliked. Many of them mentioned popular public figures. Here are the 12 best answers.

1. I hate this one guy for sleeping with my (ex) girlfriend, but love his band and the music he produces.

2. One of my ex-roommates was honestly one of the biggest pieces of shit to roam this earth. She was controlling, aggressive, and judgmental. But, one of the things I admire about her is her assertiveness and unbiased honesty when she isn’t being so terrible.

3. Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t have any tattoos because he gives blood as frequently as allowed. Tattoos can make you intelligible to donate for up to a year or more. It seems like every other soccer (futbol, whatever) player has as much ink as someone in a biker gang.

4. There is a guy that I absolutely despise with every cell in my body, yet he is one of the smartest people I’ve ever met and he always has good grades. He also has this nonchalant humour that everyone loves. He’s still a douche, though.

5. I really dislike overtly religious people, but I simultaneously admire the sense of community and strong family bonds that often accompany that kind of culture.

6. I think Miley Cyrus is skanky and annoying, but part of me respects her for reinventing herself. Her goal was to change her image and build a successful career, and she did. I may not like her but I admire her ambition and, for lack of a better word, ballsiness.

7. My ex girlfriend is a cheating, anger-filled, immature brat, and I can’t stand the air that she breathes, but her drive and ambition are second to none. Challenge her with anything, and not only will she defeat it, she’ll destroy it and force your applause. She’s a machine.

8. Russell Brand is a clearly intelligent man, has a habit of good gestures to people (and charities), and has spoken on many subjects that affect both himself and others. However, he’s a colossal bell end that once phoned a 78 year old man and left lewd messages on his answerphone whilst on air. He thinks he’s the dogs bollocks and the best thing since sliced bread. If he wasn’t a celebrity, he’d be thought of as a twat.

9. Hitler was a great public speaker. If you take away Hitler mass murdering everyone it is truly amazing how he went from a broke failure of an art student to one of the most powerful men ever.

10. George H.W. Bush is someone whose policies I don’t much agree with. But his passion for service to his country, whether through the military, Congress, the UN, CIA or The White House is incredibly admirable. He has lived a large portion of his life in the service of his country. This was an ethic passed onto him from his father, who believed that if one is “of means” it is his responsibility to give back.

11. Steve Jobs was the man who FINALLY got people to want to include a computer as part of their everyday carry. He did it by turning the mobile computer into an overpriced, overhyped, tarted-up fashion accessory – but at least programmers finally had hardware standards (touchscreen candy bar phone) that they could reliably program for.

12. I hate Luis Suarez for biting, cheating and being a racist. But he is quite good at kicking a ball.
